The Program & Visitor Services Assistant will engage and inform visitors during the fall and early winter season, during which the popular and highly attended Crane Congregations program occurs. In this role, you will support opportunities that encourage visitors to connect with Aldo Leopold, the natural world, and the foundation’s work to advance a land ethic locally and globally.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Crane Congregations Support
Welcome program participants and assist with check-in
Prepare and serve refreshments (primarily cutting cheese and pouring wine)
Assemble program packets and membership materials
Educate participants about cranes during select tours throughout the season
Visitor Services Support
Process webstore orders, including phenology calendar and holiday sales
Assist with the preparation and mailing of membership appeals
Staff the Leopold Center font desk as needed – greet visitors, make sales, answer phones, etc.
Other administrative tasks as assigned
Experience in visitor services, customer service, and/or outreach
Ability to work in a flexible environment with rapidly changing priorities
Knowledge of crane biology and ecology a plus, but not required
Familiarity with Aldo Leopold and A Sand County Almanac or willingness to learn
