Jim Pines

James (Jim) Pines was an executive with Great Dane Trailers for 28 years, and now oversees family office functions for his family. He received an undergraduate degree in economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a master’s degree in accountancy from the University of South Carolina. Jim and his family have been neighbors of the Leopold Center since 1980; their farm is located on the north side of the Wisconsin River directly across from the Leopold Shack. In October 2015, Jim purchased 1,000 acres of the land previously known as the Leopold Memorial Reserve from the Sand County Foundation. Since then, he has worked closely with the Leopold Foundation to integrate land management practices on their adjacent properties. His past community activities include work with Hebrew Union College and local charities in the Portage and Wisconsin Dells areas. His hobbies include conservation and aviation.
