Jack Salzwedel is the Chief Executive Officer of American Family Insurance. Unintentionally following in the footsteps of his dad who was an agent for the company in their hometown, Jack began as a claim adjuster in 1983. He then became an agent, then worked in leadership roles in sales, and has been in his current role since 2011.
Jack earned degrees in biology and business administration from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. There, he met his wife, Sarah. They have since established the Slife Institute for Social Work Consultation, Research, and Training at the College as well as the Salzwedel Family Foundation.
Jack serves on the boards of several industry and non-profit organizations including Property and Casualty Insurers Association of America, the Insurance Institute, Badger Air Community Council, and the Greater Madison Chamber of Commerce. He also serves on the U.S. Bank Advisory Board, UW Chancellor’s Advisory Board, and is a member of the G100 Network.
