Are you a recent graduate or young professional looking for hands-on experience in outreach programming and environmental education? We’re seeking a dedicated, energetic individual to join our team in March 2017 as an Education and Outreach Fellow.
Our Education and Outreach Fellowship program provides young people just starting their careers with practical, in-depth training in all aspects of planning, promoting, and executing education and outreach programs for a nonprofit organization.
This includes engaging with onsite visitors, developing and leading tours, organizing and staffing large public events, and writing everything from tweets to blog posts to grant proposals.
The outdoor classroom for the nine-month education fellowship is the Aldo Leopold Foundation headquarters at the Leopold Center in lovely Baraboo, WI. Here you’ll connect with thousands of onsite visitors and help engage many more through digital outreach and communication.
You’ll also get to work closely with our committed education and outreach staff, connect with Leopold ambassadors worldwide, and draw inspiration from the Leopold Shack and Farm.
A National Historic Landmark, the Shack is the iconic place where Aldo Leopold himself developed many of his most powerful ideas. For more than 20 years, the foundation has carried on the Leopold family’s tradition of caring for this land, while also engaging educators, citizens, natural resource professionals, and others in building a land ethic and fostering land health in their own communities.
How to Apply for the Education Fellowship
Applicants for the education fellowship should have a four-year degree in a relevant field and some previous work experience. Successful applicants also must commit to the full nine-month term of the fellowship: mid-March 2017 through early December 2017.
Visit our Education and Outreach Fellowships page for more background on the fellowship experience.
