The return of the geese in March signal a lot things, but for us, it is time to celebrate Leopold Week and Weekend. For more than fifteen years, Leopold Weekend has been bringing people together to celebrate Leopold’s ideas and inspire a new commitment to his vision of a land ethic. Leopold Week/Weekend is celebrated the first weekend in March in Wisconsin, and during the first full week of March in Iowa. But events take place all over the country, and even the world.
This year, over 35 community events took place in 11 states and 1 foreign country (Sweden). Over 2,400 individuals participated in events that ranged from Green Fire screenings to interactive hikes to Leopold bench building workshops to readings of A Sand County Almanac. In addition, we took to social media with #LeopoldWeek challenges, inspiring thousands to discuss and share their own personal land ethic online. See for yourself!
Even though Leopold Week/Weekend has concluded, there are still a lot of Leopold events happening around the country. Check our calendar of events to find an event near you, or view our community events page to plan one of your own.
