Learn the process of making traditional deerskin rawhide and transform it into a parfleche container to take home! Award-winning artist Mike Marshall (Sicangu Lakota) from Mission, South Dakota will lead participants in this hands-on workshop, the second in a series of Folk Art Workshops. He has exhibited his art across the country and is also an educator in various traditional and contemporary art forms, specializing in Native games from across Indian country. Class size is limited to 12 participants. Registration fee includes all materials as well as beverages and light snacks.
All workshops in the series are designed for adult individuals with little to no experience and are taught by Native professional teaching artists. We look forward to providing each participant with an opportunity to learn about and experience a true Native art form.
