The Aldo Leopold Foundation’s highest priority is the health and well-being of our staff, friends, and families. In an effort to help flatten the curve of COVID-19, the foundation will be closed to the public and suspending all onsite meeting rentals, tour groups, and workshops until May 3, 2020. All registrations will be refunded in full and, where possible, courses will be rescheduled at later dates. We understand these temporary policies may disrupt how you would like to engage the Leopold Foundation, and yet we believe these are important measures to take on behalf everyone’s health and well-being.
Learn about fire ecology, fire behavior principles, and how to plan for and implement fire as a management tool in fire-adapted ecosystems. Spend time getting to know the tools used on prescribed fires, learn about the steps involved in preparing a burn unit, explore basic aspects of wildland fire suppression, and conduct a prescribed burn, weather permitting. This workshop is open to landowners, students, professionals and anyone else interested in learning more about prescribed fire. Note: This course will not prepare participants to serve as a burn boss or conduct prescribed burns on their own.
