Premium Crane Tour

Join us for a premium crane tour starting with a guided tour of the National Historic Landmark, the Leopold Shack. Gather at the Aldo Leopold Legacy Center at noon to depart for a 1.5 hour shack tour before returning for a 1:45 pm presentation from one of our Aldo Leopold Foundation Directors.  This presentation will orient individuals to the history and behaviors of the Sandhill cranes.  An open-air, rustic wagon ride through the floodplain will bring guests within a short walk of the viewing blind situated on the bank of the Wisconsin River within the Leopold-Pine Island Important Bird Area. The blind provides a unique space to observe the pre-historic phenomenon of congregating cranes. This crane tour usually takes about 5 hours ending shortly after sunset. Hot beverages will be provided at the blind.

*Optional: Join us for a complimentary tour of the Leopold Shack and Farm starting at Noon for the full experience! Registration starts at 11:45 am. These tours are only open to premium and exclusive crane tour participants. The Visitor Center opens at 11:00 am for time to linger through the Exhibit Hall or to wonder through the Bookstore!
