Prescribed Fire
Every spring we offer a two-day workshop on prescribed burning designed for private landowners and land managers located in southern Wisconsin and neighboring areas. This workshop will not qualify you to conduct burns on your own, but it will help you to understand how prescribed fire can become a highly effective part of your land management toolbox!

April 2-3: Taliesin Preservation, Spring Green
Classes run 8:30-5:30 each day. Lunch is provided. Register.
To help you in planning and conducting your burns, we would like to share resources to help you better understand how to accomplish your goals and objectives using prescribed fire.
- Make sure you include the Burn Plan elements (WI Prescribed Fire Council)
- Look at the Burn Plan Form we use to get an idea of how to put the elements together
- View sample plans for a woodland unit and for a prairie unit.
- Before you burn, use the Go-No-Go checklist to make sure you haven't forgotten anything.
If you are thinking about purchasing equipment, we have created a list of recommended equipment with the price range of what you can expect to spend on each piece.
