The Home Range Hall
A three-season space for lectures or informal classroom style sessionsSeasons of use: Mid April - Early November Capacity: 30 people classroom, 80 people lecture The room is designed to be a three season structure, and from approximately June through September, screens are always open to let in fresh air from the outdoors. Storm windows will be on in early spring and late fall to help insulate the space in shoulder seasons, and a wood stove provides the only heat source on chilly days. Overhead, hand peeled Leopold pine trusses frame the space and support the roof. Doors open onto grassy courtyard surrounded by native plantings. Restrooms are located in the main facility, which is not connected to this space. Main building is accessed by a short walk across our courtyard. Amenities include:
Room Specifics - Home Range HallMany of the room specifics in this space are determined by the size of your gathering and the room layout you will require. Classroom style setup (maximum 30 people)Classroom style means that each person has a seat at a table, and are all facing in the same direction (usually toward a screen or an instructor). Some groups have modified the classroom style setup to fit more people in the room. If participants are seated at both sides of tables (therefore not all facing in the same direction), we can accomodate up to 45 participants in the room. Here is a view of a typical 20 person classroom setup.
Lecture style setup (maximum 80 people)While the lecture style capacity for the Home Range Hall is high, the capacity for seating at tables is smaller. However, at most large meetings, there is not enough time to re-set the room completely from lecture style to table seating style. This becomes important if your meeting includes breakfast or lunch for participants. If you are hosting a lecture-style gathering, we recommend having meals served somewhat more informally. Guests get food at a buffet line in our main facility, and then take their plates to a secluded bench by the rain garden, at a spot along our aqueduct, or just in their seat inside the building. This has worked well for other large groups that have used our facility in the past. Depending on the size of your group and the room layout needs, we can recommend the best serving arrangements.
