Rustic Road signGetting to the Aldo Leopold Legacy Center

The Aldo Leopold Legacy Center is located at E13701 Levee Road in the rural township of Fairfield, Wisconsin, just west of the intersection with Schepp and Levee Roads. Note that Levee Road is not always marked as such-- look for the brown Rustic Road markers instead. Its road number is Rustic Road #49. We are located about 15 minutes northeast of Baraboo and approximately 15 minutes southeast of Wisconsin Dells. Our mailing address is PO Box 77 in Baraboo.

NOTE TO IN-VEHICLE GPS USERS: If you have not recently downloaded updated maps for your device, your GPS unit may show our building in the incorrect location. Please note that we are located just to the west of where Scheppp Road intersects Levee Road, and follow posted signs.

Directions

From Baraboo:
Take US Highway 33 (also known as 8th street or Ringling Boulevard) to the east.
Turn left (north) on County Highway T, right after the Log Cabin Restaurant.
In 5.6 miles, go straight at the stop sign intersection with County Highway U.
Cross the bridge over the interstate and take your next right, at Rustic Road #49.
The Leopold Center is approximately 2.5 miles down from the turn, on the right hand side of the road.

From Portage:
Take highway 33 west toward Baraboo.
Just outside of town, turn right on Fairfield Road, also marked as Rustic Road #49.
Fairfield Road becomes Levee Road in Sauk County.
The Leopold Center will be on the left in 7.8 miles, just after the intersection with Schepp Road.

From Interstate 90 Westbound (from Madison’s east side, Chicago, Milwaukee):
Get off the Interstate at exit number 106 (Highway 33). At the end of the ramp, turn right-- toward Baraboo.
Travel on Highway 33 about 5.5 miles.
Turn right at the intersection with County Highway U.
Travel about 2.5 miles north on County Highway U.
Where Highway U curves sharply to the left, make a right on Schepp Road.
Where Schepp Road comes to a T intersection, make a left on Rustic Road #49 (Levee Rd.).
The Leopold Center is just over the hill on the left.

From Interstate 90 Eastbound (from Eau Claire, Minneapolis, St. Paul):
Get off the Interstate at exit number 92 (US Highway 12). Go East on 12, toward Baraboo.
Follow the signs for Highway 12 East toward Madison.
Take exit #214 for Reedsburg Road. At the roundabout, take the third right to get on Reedsburg Road going east.
Go straight through the 2nd roundabout to stay on Reedsburg Road going east.
At the stop sign interection with County Highway A, go straight. Reedsburg Road becomes County Highway U.
At the stop sign intersection with County Highway T, turn left.
Cross the bridge over the Interstate and take your next right, at Rustic Road #49.
The Leopold Center is approximately 2.5 miles down from the turn, on the right hand side of the road.

From US Highway 12 Northbound (from Baraboo, Madison’s west side and points south and west):
Take US Highway 12 toward Wisconsin Dells.
Just past Baraboo, take the exit for Business 12/Highway BD at the first roundabout.
Pass Ho-Chunk Casino. After the stoplight by Ho-Chunk, turn right on Reedsburg Road.
At the stop sign intersection with County Highway A, continue straight, crossing County Highway A. Reedsburg Road becomes County Highway U.
In 2.7 miles, reach the stop sign and intersection with County Highway T. Turn left on T.
Cross the bridge over the Interstate.
In .5 miles after crossing the bridge, look for the intersection with Rustic Road #49. Turn right on Rustic Road #49.
The Leopold Center is about 2.5 miles down, on the right.

From Interstate 39 Southbound (from Central Wisconsin and points northeast):
Get off the Interstate at exit number 87 (Highway 33) toward Portage/Baraboo. At the end of the ramp, turn right, heading west toward Baraboo.
Travel on Highway 33 for about 7 miles.
Turn right at the intersection with County Highway U.
Travel about 2.5 miles north on County Highway U.
Where Highway U curves sharply to the left, make a right on Schepp Road.
Where Schepp Road comes to a T intersection, make a left on Rustic Road #49 (Levee Rd.).
The Leopold Center is just over the hill on the left.

From US Highway 12 at the Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells
Take Kalahari Drive through the complex and under the pedestrian overpass.
At the T intersection, turn right on Bunker Drive going east.
Bunker Drive merges with County Highway T just before intersecting County Highway A.
Go straight across County Highway A, staying on County Highway T headed east.
Go east on County Highway T. At the sharp bend in the road, turn left onto Levee Road (marked as Rustic Road #49). It is technically a left turn, but it will feel like going straight. Look for the brown Rustic Road sign marker before the turn.
The Leopold Center is approximately 2 miles down, on the right hand side of the road.

From US Highway 12 at the Wisconsin Dells Parkway
Just across from the Top Secret Attraction (upside down house), The Wisconsin Dells Parkway intersects County Highway A.
Take County Highway A south toward Baraboo.
Pass the intersection with County Highway T that only goes to the right.
At the next intersection with County Highway T, go left (heading east).
Go east on County Highway T. At the sharp bend in the road, turn left onto Levee Road (marked as Rustic Road #49). It is technically a left turn, but it will feel like going straight. Look for the brown Rustic Road sign marker before the turn.
The Leopold Center is approximately 2 miles down, on the right hand side of the road.
