Getting to the Aldo Leopold Legacy Center

The Aldo Leopold Legacy Center is located at E13701 Levee Road in the rural township of Fairfield, Wisconsin. Note that Levee Road is not often marked as such-- look for the brown Rustic Road markers instead. Its road number is Rustic Road #49. We are located about 15 minutes northeast of Baraboo and approximately 15 minutes southeast of Wisconsin Dells. Our mailing address is PO Box 77 in Baraboo.

Directions

From Interstate 90 Westbound (from Madison’s east side, Chicago, Milwaukee)
Get off the Interstate at exit number 106 (Highway 33). At the end of the ramp, turn right-- toward Baraboo.
Travel on Highway 33 about 5.5 miles.
Turn right at the intersection with County Highway U.
Travel about 2.5 miles north on County Highway U.
Where Highway U curves sharply to the left, make a right on Schepp Road.
Where Schepp Road comes to a T intersection, make a left on Rustic Road #49 (Levee Rd.).
The Leopold Center is just over the hill on the left.

From Interstate 90 Eastbound (from Eau Claire, Minneapolis, St. Paul)
Get off the Interstate at exit number 92 (US Highway 12). Go East on 12, toward Baraboo. (Follow signs for Mirror Lake State Park)
At the roundabout, take the third right onto Moon Road going east.
At the intersection with County Highway T, turn right.
Pass Gillem Road on the right. The next road will be Levee Road (marked as Rustic Road #49). It is technically a left turn, but it will feel like going straight onto Rustic Road #49, because County Highway T makes a sharp right turn at this intersection.
The Leopold Center is approximately 2.5 miles down from the turn, on the right hand side of the road.

From US Highway 12 Northbound (from Baraboo, Madison’s west side and points south and west)
Take US Highway 12 toward Wisconsin Dells.
Pass Ho-Chunk Casino. After the stoplight by Ho-Chunk, look for the next right hand turn.
At Shady Lane Road (see signs for ICF), turn right. Pass the International Crane Foundation.
At the intersection with County Highway A, continue straight on Shady Lane Road, crossing County Highway A.
In 1 mile, pass the intersection with Gillem Road. Continue straight on Shady Lane Road.
In 1.7 miles, reach the stop sign and intersection with County Highway T. Turn left on T.
Cross the bridge over the Interstate.
In .5 miles after crossing the bridge, look for the intersection with Rustic Road #49. Turn right on Rustic Road #49.
The Leopold Center is about 2.5 miles down, on the right.

From Baraboo:
Take US Highway 33 (also known as 8th street or Ringling Boulevard) to the east.
Turn left (north) on County Highway T, right after the Log Cabin Restaurant.
In 5.6 miles, go straight at the stop sign intersection with County Highway U.
Cross the bridge over the interstate and take your next right, in .5 miles at Rustic Road #49.
The Leopold Center is approximately 2.5 miles down from the turn, on the right hand side of the road.
