Getting to the Aldo Leopold Legacy Center

The Aldo Leopold Legacy Center is located at E13701 Levee Road in the rural township of Fairfield, Wisconsin. We are located about 15 minutes northeast of Baraboo and approximately 15 minutes southeast of Wisconsin Dells. There are no directional signs to aid in navigation along this route, so please bring along a map and a copy of the directions below for your drive.

Directions

From Interstate 90 Westbound (from Madison’s east side, Chicago, Milwaukee)
Get off the Interstate at exit number 106 (Highway 33). At the end of the ramp, turn right-- toward Baraboo.
Travel on Highway 33 for approximately 5.8 miles. At the intersection with County Highway U, turn right.
Travel on County Highway U for approximately 2.6 miles. At the intersection with Schepp Road, turn right.
Travel on Schepp Road until it comes to a T with Levee Road (marked as Rustic Road #49.)
Turn left on Rustic Road #49. The Aldo Leopold Legacy Center will be on the left very soon after the turn.

From Interstate 90 Eastbound (from Eau Claire, Minneapolis, St. Paul)
Get off the Interstate at exit number 92 (US Highway 12). Go East on 12, toward Baraboo. (Follow signs for Mirror Lake State Park)
The first stoplight after the interchange is the intersection with Fern Dell/Moon Road; go left on Moon Road.
Moon Road comes to a T at County Highway A. Go left on County Highway A.
At the intersection with County Highway T, turn right.
Pass Gillem Road on the right. The next road will be Levee Road (marked as Rustic Road #49). It is technically a left turn, but it will feel like going straight onto Rustic Road #49.
The Aldo Leopold Legacy Center is approximately 2.5 miles down from the turn, on the right hand side of the road.

From US Highway 12 Northbound (from Baraboo, Madison’s west side and points south)
Take US Highway 12 west toward Baraboo.
Pass through the town of Baraboo, and pass Ho-Chunk Casino. At the stoplight after the casino, turn right onto Reedsburg Road.
Take Reedsburg road until the stop sign at the intersection with County Highway A. Go straight.
Reedsburg Road becomes County Highway U.
Continue on County Highway U until the next stop sign at the intersection with County Highway T.
At the intersection with County Highway T, go left.
Go up and over Interstate 90 on the overpass.
The next road is Levee Road (marked as Rustic Road #49.) Turn right.
The Aldo Leopold Legacy Center is approximately 2.5 miles down from the turn, on the right hand side of the road.

From US Highway 12 Southbound (Wisconsin Dells area)
Take Highway 12 south past the I-90 interchange.
At the first stoplight after the interchange, turn left on Moon Rd.
Take Moon road until it ends at the stop sign at the intersection with County Highway A. Take a left on Highway A, go over the interstate and take your first right on County Highway T.
Continue on County Highway T for 2.5 miles until it turns sharply to the right. Take a left at the turn onto Levee Rd. (marked as Rustic Road 49).
The Aldo Leopold Legacy Center is approximately 2.5 miles down from the turn, on the right hand side of the road.
