Recreation
The Aldo Leopold Legacy Trail System contains 1,700 miles of Wisconsin State Trails. The trail system will continue Leopold's legacy by allowing residents and visitors of all ages to experience Wisconsin's diverse natural beauty, and will let them observe for themselves the value of conservation and land ethic.
Land Management Training
The Woodland School strives to empower private landowners with intensive training
in ecologically-oriented land management.
Master Woodland Stewards is a UWSP forestry outreach program. Participants receive more than 30 hours of instruction from UW-Extension and Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources forestry and woodland management specialists.
Environmental Education
Aldo
Leopold Nature Center Designed to promote a love of the land, year-round
hands-on programs at this environmental education center in Monona, WI
bring schoolchildren of all ages in touch with nature.
"EE
Works for Wisconsin" promotes an informed and skilled public as
the best guarantee of environmental stewardship, a strong, sustainable
economy, and a high quality of life.
Leopold Education Project is a conservation
and environmental education curriculum sponsored by Pheasants Forever and based
on the ethics and writings of Aldo Leopold.
Nature Net A consortium of 16 environmental
learning centers in southern Wisconsin, designed to foster a lifelong love
of the outdoors among schoolchildren.
The Wisconsin Association for Environmental
Education (WAEE) is a non-governmental organization of professional educators.
WAEE provides training, networking, and information for educators through
conference workshops and publications.
The National Wildlife Federation is
the nation's largest member-supported conservation group, uniting individuals,
organizations, businesses and government to protect wildlife, wild places,
and the environment.
Research and Restoration
Leopold Center for Sustainable Agriculture seeks
to identify and reduce adverse socioeconomic and environmental impacts of farming
practices, develop profitable farming systems that conserve natural resources,
and create educational programs with the Iowa State University Extension Service.
International
Crane Foundation With worldwide programs in captive breeding, reintroduction,
and ecosystem protection, ICF's headquarters in Baraboo, WI are the only
place where visitors can see all 15 species of cranes.
Wisconsin
Wetlands Association A statewide, non-profit science-based educational
and advocacy organization dedicated to the protection, restoration and
enjoyment of Wisconsin's wetlands.
Community Conservation Coalition
for the Sauk Prairie promotes ecological restoration and other conservation
activities on lands occupied by the Badger Army Ammunition Plant south of
Baraboo, WI.
Land Conservation
The Natural
Heritage Land Trust (formerly Dane County Natural Heritage
Foundation) is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to the
conservation of natural areas in Dane and surrounding counties in
Wisconsin.
Lake
Forest Open Lands Association preserves the natural environment
in Northeastern Illinois through land acquisition, habitat restoration,
public education, and conservation advocacy.
